He With the Most Links Does NOT Always Win

We’ve all heard the old Search Engine Optimization (SEO) adage for link building, “He with the most links wins.” I have NEVER believed this, or at least part of it.

The saying would actually be more accurate if it was changed to read, “He with the best links wins.” Of course, the more best links you have the better your opportunity to outrank your competition.

As you should be able to see from the above infographic, he with the most links did not win. As such, you can WIN the SERP WARS by garnering significantly less backlinks than your competition. However, you do need to make sure that your backlinks are of a higher-quality and you should generally pursue a broader more unique link graph compared to that of your competition.
